The foundation of HELLPmama is rooted in a mother's transition from military service to the complex world of medical caregiving. After leaving the military to focus entirely on her children, she was faced with the daunting task of managing the lives of medically complex children.

This transition involved far more than just daily care; it required becoming an expert in:

  • Navigating Specialized Therapies: Coordinating physical, occupational, and speech therapies essential for her children's development.

  • Managing Medical Equipment: Mastering the use and maintenance of life-sustaining medical technology within the home.

  • Decoding Complex Insurance Systems: Fighting for coverage and navigating the red tape of medical insurance to ensure her children received the care they deserved.

Her experience highlighted a critical gap in support for those who care for the most vulnerable. HELLPmama was established to bridge that gap, offering a lifeline to caregivers and celebrating the "Heroes with Wheels" who inspire us every day.
